1. Synthesize the information you have learned over the last two weeks.
  2. Have the opportunity to share and highlight strategies, theories and your most significant "ah ha" moments you experienced throughout the online modules.
  3. Participate in a public speaking experience and receive feedback.

Activity Assignments:

READ the following article at Rethinking Schools.

REVIEW your previous Discussion Posts, beginning with your Ideal Classroom from Day One Orientation, and continuing through Modules 1-7.

Connections & Reflections:

Please respond to the following questions. Your total response should be between 1-2 pages (250 and 500 words). When finished, please post your written response under your district's link below.

  1. Reflecting on the material you learned about classroom management, the multicultural classroom, mentoring, civic engagement, and the developmental stages of youth, how would you now describe your ideal classroom? Ideal one-on-one experience?
  2. How have your views changed over the course of these two weeks of Online Learning? Please be specific, citing specific examples from Online coursework.
  3. What questions remain for you regarding teaching and learning both inside and outside of the classroom?

Hint: Your posting should be spell-checked and consistent with a quality academic paper with regard to grammar, content, and organization.

REVIEW the items you have saved in your tool box over the past two weeks. RE-ORGANIZE your toolbox by creating categories that will be easily accessible for you (i.e. Classroom Set Up, Lesson Resources, Important AmeriCorps Information, Tribes Information, etc), and your site teammates.

Peer Sharing:

PREPARE a 2 minute "Mission Stand" presentation. You will share it publicly with your district team at Friday's Wrap-Up.
See the following guidelines for construction of this public peer share:
  • It is your mission to accomplish WHAT this year? Be specific! What measurable outcomes will your service year have?
  • HOW will you accomplish it? WHY is it important? WHO will be effected?
  • Conclude your "Mission Stand" by explaining to your team WHY they should join you, and invite them on your mission.

PREPARE to also share out 3 "Ah-ha" moments from your toolbox with your site.
